Choices & Changes is a family-oriented counseling practice providing care in a confidential and professional setting. President, owner and therapist, Jan Boggs’ business philosophy is centered on the importance of building and maintaining positive relationships with her clients, professional colleagues, and referral sources. Jan strives to be intentional in communication and action showing compassion, integrity, honesty and guidance. Jan strongly believes that each individual has the capacity to make choices that can lead to their own personal success. As a relationship-based therapist Jan uses a variety of therapeutic techniques that give people the tools and practice to make lasting changes in their lives.

Jan Boggs graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Social Work and Indiana University at Indianapolis with a Master of Social Work. She started her early social work career working with children and adults who had developmental disabilities. Jan began her clinical work at the Bowen Center in the areas of consultation and education. For fifteen years Jan had a career as a consultant, trainer and facilitator working with both for profits and not-for-profits in the areas of team-building, communication, and conflict management.  Since 2005 she has been in private practice working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Jan is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Association of Play Therapy.


Christy Garau holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Indiana University, where she concentrated in child welfare and childhood trauma. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the Indiana Health and Human Services Board. Christy has additional training in Expressive Therapies including Play and Sand Tray Therapy, Theraplay®, Filial Therapy, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. She is in the final months of earning certification as a Registered Play Therapist.

Christy focuses her practice in working with children and their caregivers. Christy’s priority in treatment for children and their families, is to facilitate opportunities for self-expression and healing of self and relationships, in a safe, supportive, accepting and nurturing environment. Christy is firmly committed to practicing the NASW Social Work Code of Ethics’ values of service, social justice, dignity and worth of each person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. Christy’s faith and submission to Christ, supports and directs her service to clients.

Christy participates in weekly clinical supervision, and attends continuing educational/competency courses to stay current in her practice.


Nicole Trier received her Bachelors in Psychology from IPFW and Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grace College.  She has over 15 years of experience working with adolescents, teenagers, and families in our community.  She is excited to begin this new chapter of her career in private practice with Choices and Changes.  In her free time, Nicole spends time with her husband and four children attending their sports, music, and other events.

Vickie Coyle is the part time office manager. She graduated from IPFW with a Bachelor of General Studies with a concentration in music. She is married with 2 school aged kids, and was once a stay at home mom. She enjoys camping with her family, reading, regular exercise and going for motorcycle rides with her husband.  Vickie delights in meeting new people and attempts to create an authentic relationship with them. Her in office hours are Tuesday9:30-2:30, and Wednesdays and Thursdays 8:30-2:30.

Website PhotoBrittany Prater graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from IPFW in 2012 and recently obtained her Master’s degree in Social Work from Indiana University. Brittany has experience in the mental health field for 4 years and has a wide range of trainings on a variety of interventions such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Substance Use Disorders. She is currently an LSW and continually gaining experience and supervision as she works towards becoming an LCSW. Brittany enjoys spending time with her husband, reading, walking her dog and visiting her parents in Michigan. Brittany has a special interest in substance abuse and enjoys facilitating groups to help others form support and tools to help them in their recovery journey.
